The walls are crumbling. The roof beyond repair.
Paint has peeled, floors are rotten, furniture hardly recognizable as such.
No one is here, they have long since gone.
An old toy in the corner, a shredded towel by the door.
The kitchen is bare, cupboards empty.
Laughter that once filled the halls, lost to echo’s memory.
No little feet run from upstairs to greet the new day.
No cries of delight from children to parents.
All is silent.
No one is here.
In this place, once called home.
A truck rumbles down the road, stopping before the home that once was.
Men and tools set to work. Walls and floors are torn apart.
Noise and chaos reign. What was left of the home is no more.
Night turns into day, day into night.
New walls rise up. A floor once more is built.
Rooms are furnished, paint is dried.
People come and go.
Little feet explore.
Cries of delight are heard.
A family moves in.
In this place, now called home.
Jen your free-verse poem was A-MAY-ZHING!!!!!!!!!! LOOOVED IT!!! I really loved how you worded this verse, girl, “Laughter that once filled the halls, lost to echoโs memory.” ๐๐๐๐

This was great! The first set (is that what it’s called? The lines above the divider are what I mean.) actually gave me a story idea, so, yeah. Like I needed another one. I’ve tried scheduling posts, and most of the time it doesn’t work, so it’s probably user error, but since I am so incompetent, I’ll just stick with whipping something up then posting it. XD If I tried writing free-verse, it’d turn into a book. I like this quite a bit, and will be referring back to it when I write that story!

Awww, thank you so much! (I think they’re called verses? But I know what you mean. ๐ ) That is so cool it gave you an idea! Heheh, sowwy. XD I’m so honoured my little poem inspired you! ^_^ Aww, I’m sure it’s just WordPress. ๐ Haha! I’m the same! That’s why I didn’t include direct references to people or it would have been a short story instead. XD Eeep! I’m so thrilled you do! I’m excited to hear more about your story when you write it! โค

Ohmygoodness thank you!!! I’m so, so happy you enjoyed this! Awww, really? I don’t know what to say! I was so close to not publishing it, I am blown away and humbled by how much everyone loves it. I am running out of words, your comment has made my day! *hugs* Eheh, yeah, whenever I try to write any kind of poetry, it would always rhyme and I never tried free-verse. Awww, I definitely want to do more! ^_^ I am thrilled you love it! <333

Oh! That's so cool you write free-verse poetry! I think I remember you saying you wrote poetry before? Thank you so much!!! <333 Honestly, though, God guided me in this. I had no idea what to post and He impressed the word Home on my heart and it turned into this poem. ^_^

Yes, I do remember telling you about me writing free-verse poetry!๐ The poem I was working on at the time I told you about it, I’ve just recently sent to Brio Magazine’s Creative Corner section!
That is amazing that God guided you and laid this poem on your heart!!!!!!<333 It's awesome how God works in our lives!!!!!!! ๐ Also, I wanted to let you know that I've been praying to God about my writing like you advised me to do. I believe that at the moment He's calling me to work on a fantasy novel. So, that's what my WIP has been since January. Also, now I'm looking at sending a short story to Highlights Magazine, but I've been praying about before I do anything. God is leading me in my writing journey and I want to thank you for your awesome advise and for being an amazing friend!!!!!!!!<3333333 ^_^

Ahhh, I love this so much. If I’m being honest, I don’t enjoy most of the poetry I read (because I’m really picky with poetry) but yours *chef’s kiss* is so lovely. I was interested from start to finish. I was definitely not bored or confused. Well done! โค โค โค
