Fairytales, Linkups

The “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” Fairy Tale Tag – Hosted by Fairy Tale Central

Hi again! I know I’ve been posting a lot lately, don’t worry, things will calm down soon and I will hopefully be back to one post a week. I want to thank all my dear readers for putting up with my blog explosion, y’all are the best! ❤

Fairy Tale Central is hosting a month long celebration of fairy tales that is going to be such fun! (Shhh, we’re ignoring the fact that the month is half over by the time I participate.) Today I’m joining in by doing the delightful tag they have. To join in the fun, simply head over to this post to grab the questions for yourself, and don’t forget to add your link! 😀

THE QUESTIONS

– Your father the king has declared a contest for your hand in marriage. But he’s allowing you to decide what kind of competition it will be. What do you choose? Is there a penalty for losing, or do the losers just go home while the winner remains to marry you?

Heheh, I’d be tempted to pull a Merida, but instead I would choose a competition that tested strength, cunning, bravery, and character, with a last trick obstacle provided by my fairy godmother to ensure only a man of noble heart and honest character won. And it would entirely depend on the losers if they get to go home. If their motive for winning my hand is evil, the obstacle kills them, if they just aren’t my type they get to go home. ;p

– You’ve just been told that you’re the Chosen One – the heir to your kingdom’s throne. Of course you demanded proof, but you didn’t expect quite so much of it to be brought forward. You grudgingly ask the state of the land. Your kingdom is at war with two neighboring kingdoms, a third kingdom is expecting your kingdom to ally with theirs and help them fight in agreement with an old treaty, there is famine in two counties in the north, and the barons of the kingdom are fighting over who will supply the palace with food for the next year. What do you do first?

Meep. Personally, I’d freeze and have a panic attack first and then later I would ally with the third kingdom, send peace negotiations to the other two, and tell the barons to stop fighting and instead send the food to the counties suffering from famine and then negotiate for that kingdom I’m now allied with to supply the palace with food as a contingency for my allying with them.

– You’ve set off to find your fortune but end up caught in a storm in the middle of the night in an enchanted forest…and there’s an ominous growl emitting from the trees. A warm looking cottage sits nearby but you’ve heard that questionable figures dwell in this wood. What’s your plan of action?

Check out the growling. Warm looking cottages are normally inhabited by little old ladies who turn out to be witches who want to kill and/or eat you. The growling is probably a poor cursed prince who may even have a majestic library to give me. *smile smile*

– It is time to christen your dear new baby. It’s expected to invite the local fairies but they’re known for “gifting” babies with less-than-desirable characteristics (Ella Enchanted-style). Do you invite them anyway or “accidentally” forget to send out an invitation and risk the wrath of the petty (but powerful) fairy-kind upon your kingdom?

I think I’ll just skip town and christen my baby elsewhere. Buuut, if that’s not an option I’ll just invite them anyway because an angry fairy could still give a gift and then that gift would be purposefully harmful. Ella eventually turned out alright, so I think my baby would too.

– Your fairy godmother grants the choice of three gowns for your one chance to meet the prince at the ball: a dress the color of the golden sun, a dress the color of the silver moon, or a dress the color of the sky. Which dress do you choose?

I choose the dress the colour of the silver moon. That’s the colour Ariel wore when she was reunited with Eric. ^_^

– Your cursed beloved tells you that only when he marries a true-blood princess will he be set free. Do you choose to aid him by finding a princess that can set him free from his horrible curse? Or do you visit the witch of the forest and make a deal with her to become a princess – but you will only get to be with your prince one day a year.

Hmmm, my choices are, find an elderly princess or find a different witch. *grins*

– You’ve just completed a fairy tale adventure worthy to join the ranks of the world’s greatest legends. Alas, the kingdom’s most famous minstrel is also notorious for adding his own embellishments. Would you rather have your story lost to the world, your name and deeds forgotten, or to to be known as a hero throughout the land…just in a very inaccurate and mangled version of the story?

Eh, other people are going to talk and twist the tale, so I might as well let the minstrel do his worst.

– You’ve just been approached by a man in a pointy hat who says you’re the chosen one destined to save a magical world. Before you enter the portal to this new world, you are allowed to take one piece of modern technology with you. What do you choose?

My laptop so I can write in my free time while I save the world. 😛

– Your parents have angered a powerful witch in your land, and she has chosen to strike out at you to punish your parents. However, since you weren’t the one who actually angered her, she’s letting you choose your own fate: 1) sleep for 100 years and leave your parents to die of old age while you sleep, 2) be locked alone in a faraway tower so your parents will never find you, 3) lose your voice so you’ll never be able to speak to your parents, or 4) give you a fatal golden touch so that you can’t hug your parents lest you turn them into statutes.

Yowza! As much as I love to sleep, I couldn’t handle the 100 years thing. Being locked away would be kinda nice, I could get some writing done, but then again I don’t like being alone for extended periods of time. I rather like having my voice. Uh, big no on the golden touch thing, I need hugs. I guess I’ll go with losing my voice. *starts brushing up on sign language*

– You just found out that you have a twin, and you two were separated from birth because an ancient prophecy claimed one of you would bring ruin upon the kingdom. Are you the prophesied twin of ruin, or is it your brother/sister? How do you figure that out, and what do you and your twin decide to do about it?

You know? I’ve always wanted a twin, actually I wanted to be a triplet so I could have a brother and a sister. Anyway, my twin (don’t make me choose if I have a twin brother or sister) and I immediately like each other and begin acting like Ruffnut and Tuffnut from How To Train Your Dragon movies. My twin is the twin of ruin, we find that out because my twin has the Milo Murphy effect, we decide to overthrow the kingdom that stole us away from each other (it’s ruled by a tyrant anyway) and I become the new ruler while my twin keeps our political enemies at bay by merely being in their presence and causing everything to go wrong for them.

This was such fun! I tag everyone reading this!

Aren’t these questions fun? If you’re not doing the tag on your own blog, feel free to answer the questions below or over on Fairy Tale Central!

Tell me in the comments! 😀

  1. Ohmygoodness, I love your answers! *silently covering mine because now they don’t seem half as cunning as I thought* This was such a fun tag. I chose to lose my voice, as well. The options never said what you’d look like after 100 years of sleep. With my luck, I’d look like 120 and be covered in a century of dust and dead bugs. No thanks.

    1. Eeep! Thank you so much! *asks you not to cover yours up because I freaked out after mine posted thinking they weren’t that clever either* Lolz! I know! Just because you sleep for the 100 years, doesn’t mean you’re not going to age. I don’t fancy going to sleep and waking up as a decrepit old lady. And eww, you’ve got a point about the dust and dead bugs, I’d probably have a few mice living in my hair too. XD

  2. EEEEE YOU DID THE TAG!!! And your answers are so FUN. And SMART. All your ideas for question #2 sound totally solid and very diplomatic! And oooh, you’re totally right the growling in the forest COULD be a cursed prince. :O Very good thinking!

Oh my goodness, I LOST it at the idea of finding an elderly princess for that cursed prince. Bwahahaha! Now that is brilliant! XD

And the twin question! HA. Okay, but now I want a story about a super unlucky person constantly winning wars and stuff because their ill-fortune carries over to the bad guys they’re around and whatnot. That is just too hilarious and great!

ALL OF THIS WAS GREAT. I’m so glad you joined in!

    1. IT WAS SO FUN!!! Eeep! Really? I just… I don’t know what to say. Thank you!!! ^_^ Hehe, question #2 is sometimes how my story ideas unfold, so I’ve had practice. 😉 Haha, yeah, I was thinking something like Beauty and the Beast or even East of the Sun and West of the Moon type curse.

*cackles* Sometimes my sense of humor can be a smidge morbid? But I like finding the loopholes. XD

That would be such a great story! XD Especially if it was a series of novellas or something.

Thank you so much!! I’m so glad FTC hosted it! ^_^

  4. Oh my, all of your answers were GOLDEN. I laughed. Your sense of humour was just brilliant, and I don’t how you managed to think up some of those answers like #2 or #10, I’m impressed.
*looks at pile of tags I need to do* Nah, I can add one more. *remembers promise of only getting a tag that I was officially tagged for because I would just fill my blog with tags again and never write the many post ideas I have* *Feel torn*

    1. Eeep! Thank you so much!!! I am so glad you enjoyed it and found it funny! I was honestly feeling very sarcastic as I filled it out, so I guess I should let my sarcasm out a bit more, huh? XD But, thank you! For #2 and #10 is how I sometimes do my story ideas, so I’ve had some practice.

*grins* You should definitely do it! *whispers that I officially tag you because Fairy Tale Central has it open for everyone* 😉 *gently nudges you to do the tag* (You know, only if you want to. ^_^)

  5. EEeeekkk, girl, this post is AWESOME!!!!! I LOOOOOVED reading your answers!!!!!! Especially the part about finding an elderly princess or a different witch. 🤣 😜 GENIUS, girl!!!!!!!!!!! For the question before the last, I’d go with the golden touch, though, ’cause I couldn’t be able to live if I could talk. XD Also, I think Katherine’s gonna be doing this tag/linkup on TWN too!!!!!!
