More Than A Dream – Writing Update #2

And now for your regularly scheduled Monday post. πŸ˜‰

Welp, we’re in week 2 and I hope everyone is doing great! I am currently very sleep deprived and running off coffee grinds. XD

I thought I would give a short summary of last week’s writing, if it’s boring to read please let me know and I’ll do something different next week. πŸ™‚

As I said last week, (just bear with me, I need to get a recap out of my system,) I wrote 5,186 on day one. One of my best daily scores, so I was excited. πŸ˜€

Day two was a bit lackluster since I wasn’t able to write until late that night, but I managed to squeeze in 1,217 words.

Aaanndd, it goes downhill from here. Let’s just say between necessary things needing to be done and mold issues and fall pool maintenance, writing got chunked out the window for the most part especially since I was feeling very uninspired with all the things going on.

Day three – 910, yet again not able to write until very late.

Day four – 566, ditto.

Day five – 470, I think you get the point.

Day six is when I was able to get back in the groove and get out of that writing slump. I wrote a grand total of 2,883!

Day seven – 181, um yeah, another slump…

So for the first week my exact total is 11,425, it was 2,000 under what I was hoping but still good nonetheless.

Day eight I managed another good day with 1,073, and today I’ve already written almost two thousand, (yes, I’m too lazy to check the exact number right now.) so I’m pretty sure I can make up for those not-so-productive days.

And that’s my um, rather abysmal report. But, I think I’ve hit my stride again, but I don’t want to jinx it so I’m done talking numbers now. πŸ˜‰

Okay, snippet time!

[He] exhaled. “Sorry. My castle’s west wing is forbidden too.” he said matter-of-factly, as if it were only normal for west wings to be forbidden. But Charm knew differently. There was a time it wasn’t forbidden, when instead it was the most welcoming part of the castle. When it was her mother’s suite of rooms.

Yes, sorry, the person speaking to Charm is a huge spoiler, so, yeah, nope on the sharing department. ;p I can give a hint though, he’s already an established character in one of my other books and I nearly squealed out loud when I realized he was now in this book, thankfully I didn’t, though, cause he showed up late last night and my family was already asleep. I am just so, so thrilled he’s here and what it means for my story and cannot wait to figure it all out! *grins*

How’s everyone doing? Even if you’re not writing, how are you? What’cha doin’? And if you are writing, what’s your wordcount if you’d like to share? How’s everything going?

Tell me in the comments! πŸ˜€

  1. This was not boring AT ALL! I loved getting a little snippet of your week! I’m so sorry life busyness and such made you hit some slumps this week though! But that’s also SO admirable that you made time to squeeze in words every single day anyway! And those hundred words here and there add up FAST. You’re doing so great pushing through all the life craziness!
AND OOOH. That snippet is so intriguing! I’m thrilled for you that you get to write a surprise character you’re excited about. YES. THAT IS THE BEST. I got up to a character I was excited to meet too and it’s just SO MUCH FUN!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your week with us! I do hope week 2 proves to be an absolutely fabulous one! <333

    1. Meep! Thanks! Lol, I think it’s more me being stubborn than admirable, I haven’t gotten a full night of sleep all week! XD Hopefully life will be slowing down in the next few days, it looks like it might. *crosses fingers in hope* Yeah! Every little bit counts! *fist pump* Thanks!!!

*grins* I am literally trying not to squeal every time he comes on the scene! Never in a million years did I expect *him* to enter my story! (But now I will have to figure out what happened in his that got him here… Meh, I’ll figure that out when I get to it. ;p)

Oooh! So happy for you! Was it Vence by any chance?

Thank you! I hope you have a fantabulous week, too!!! ^_^

  2. Now, I am excited to know who this character is.
I’ve wrote 13,013 words in total. I haven’t written yet today, so it will go up a bit.
You are better at it than me. On my writing slumps days, I don’t even write a single little word.

Ooh! Yay you!!!! That is a very good wordcount! ^_^

Aw, that’s okay! Everyone deals with slumps differently. I hope you have an AMAZING week of writing! ❀

  3. Sleep deprived and running on coffee? *raises hand* I’m right there with you, girl. But congrats on such a great word count already! You’ve got this!

Do you have an account on the NaNo site, or are we already buddies on there? Because if we’re not, I’d love to be your buddy! I’m obsessing over your Cinderella story right now. You mentioned in your previous update post from last week that you were writing it with the three balls, and that’s exactly how I wrote my Cinderella retelling! *high fives* Only, mine wasn’t genderbent, so you one-upped me in epic-ness right there. *winks* Looking forward to more snippets!

    1. Haha! *high fives* This is the month of insanity and sleepless nights! XD Aww, thanks! ❀

Oh, sorry, I'm doing an unofficial NaNo and I don't have an account. 😦 BUT I am soooo happy you want to be buddies! Hmm, if you have hangouts, and only if you wanted to, would you like to be buddies through that? Because I would also LOVE to be your buddy!

Awww! Thank you! *blushes* I am so thrilled you love it! YES! Three balls, I actually just finished writing the first ball this morning and it was so fun! Oh, cool! I remembered reading you had a Cinderella retelling AND YOURS IS EPIC TOO!!! ^_^
Meep! Thanks! πŸ˜€ Your comment made my day! ❀

  4. That snippet is so good! I haven’t got around to commenting on your blog until now (NaNo has taken over my life), but I’ve been following your story and I’m already OBSESSED with Charm and Ellar!

You’re doing great, here’s to many more words to come!!

    1. O.O Meep! Thank you so much!!! ^_^ It makes me so, so THRILLED to hear that! ❀ I've never shared my stories outside of my family before, so it really makes my day when someone says they love my characters. ^_^

Absolutely no worries about commenting! I'm just so happy you did! This month is crazy and I've barely managed to keep up with emails and blogs. *peeks out from behind fingers* So, you're in good company. πŸ˜‰

      Thanks and you too!!! ❀

  5. Ooh, sorry, I’m a bit behind on commenting, but I LOVED your updates. It was soo not boring at all!!! I’m at 36,464 words in my second draft. I’m hoping to cover a lot more ground this week. (I’m thinking trying to do about 20,000 this week. Is that too much? I think that’s too much.) Oh, well, we’ll see how everything goes. LOVE THE SNIPPET!!!! Girl, you’re on a role with this book, can’t wait to see where you go with it.

  6. Yay! I LOVED the snippet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jen, you are doing FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!! (I think I go crazy with exclamation points.πŸ˜‰) *clap clap clap* πŸ‘Your word count is higher than me. I have 206 words on my free spirit poem and 751 words in one of the novels I am working on. I forgot to say in my comment on the last update that I love that there’s a mystery in your story as well. I love mysteries. Oh, and I noticed in your bio that you like to craft. That’s AMAZING! I love crafting!!! What types of crafting do you do?

    1. ^_^ Awww!!! Thanks so much!!! (Haha, I do the same thing with exclamation points sometimes. πŸ˜‰ )

You’re doing GREAT TOO!!! Writing poetry is awesome! I’ve dabbled in writing my own. πŸ™‚ Just keep doing what you can with your writing and you’ll do fantabulously! ;D

Aww! Thanks! I love mysteries too!

Eeep! I need to update that tiny little bio, eheh… That’s so cool you love crafting too! I love working with beads, my main form of crafting with them is loom beading. It’s SO fun yet SO aggravating at times. πŸ˜‰ I also do yarn weaving on a loom, that one is my newest hobby so I’m not very good at it yet. I tried crocheting but I kind of gave up after a few years of failed attempts. And my mom taught me how to sew when I was little and I am a pretty good sewer, but during my teens I grew less fond of it and don’t really do it anymore. I also like painting rocks. πŸ™‚

What crafts do you like to do?

      1. Aww, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚

Cool! I’ve always wanted to try the loom beading and yarn weaving on a loom. Jewelry making is something I picked up about a year ago, so I’m not very good at it yet. πŸ™‚ I’m sure you’re doing great with your yarn weaving though!!! πŸ™‚ Ooh, painting rocks is fun! That’s awesome that you can sew! I can sew a little bit. Basically, I like to try new forms of crafting to broaden my horizon. I can crochet better than I can knit (unless knitting hats on a loom counts as anythingπŸ˜‰). And the majority of my crafting is DIY. I like to take things in our house that we don’t use anymore and repurpose them into something else. And I love making anything that involves the hot glue gun. πŸ™‚

        1. They are a lot of fun! Though, my least favourite part is having to tie off and tuck away all the loose threads… I may have a project or two tucked away that I’m procrastinating on finishing because of that. Eheh…

Ooh, that’s cool you make jewelry!

I’ve only made wall hangings with my yarn so far, I’m hoping to one day make purses and such. πŸ™‚

Painting rocks is really fun, I’m currently working on painting the Phineas and Ferb characters, just their faces though, it’s hard finding rocks big enough for entire bodies without having to paint teeny tiny.

You can sew too? Awesome! Trying new forms of crafting is very fun!

Oooh! Knitting hats on a loom totally counts. Is it by any chance a Knifty Knitter?

That’s cool you like DIY! I’ve always admired those who can repurpose things, I just never have the time to do so myself.

Haha, hot glue guns have always been a little intimidating to me so go you for using one! πŸ˜‰

      2. 😁That’s okay. I have a lot of projects that I haven’t finished either because I start more projects than I can keep up with.

Cool! That would be awesome! I knitted a purse on a loom once but it didn’t turn out so well.

I love Phineas and Ferb!!! Have you seen the new movie? That’s INCREDIBLE that you’re painting their faces on a rock!!! That’s beyond my painting skills. πŸ™‚

Thank you! πŸ™‚ Yes, it’s a Knifty Knitter. Though, I didn’t know it was called that until you said something, but I looked back at my box and that’s what it said on it. (I guess I just missed the name for some reason. 😊)

        Thank you!

        1. Lol, so many projects, so little time. XD

Ooh! Cool! The most I did on a loom was hats, scarves, a blanket, and a pair of socks. The blanket took forever to do. >.>

Phineas and Ferb is awesome! If you mean the movie on Disney+ *glares at Disney* then no. We don’t have home wifi so unfortunately we couldn’t get Disney+. I REALLY want to watch it though! Aww, thanks! I didn’t think I was a good artist at first, but it really helps to have a reference photo and lots of white paint to hide the mistakes. πŸ˜‰

Okay, cool! (I do things like that all the time. ;D)

      3. I know right?! XD

Awesome!!! I’ve never made a blanket or socks before. I’m sure. πŸ™‚

Oh, yeah, I meant the one on Disney+. I’m sorry.😟 The movie was really good though. You’re welcome. Yes, white paint always comes in handy.πŸ˜‰
